HA OPINIONS. -shoves them down your throat- Guess I’ll say some of the obvious things before more pressing matters. First the romance.
My opinion on Asami:I don’t like her and I don’t hate her either. She just needs to… earn my liking. Because she’s a non-bender it makes her seem like she can’t do much- but even though Sokka and Suki were non-benders they had obvious skill. I know that Bryke are amazing with handling female characters so I’m sure Asami will have a bigger purpose besides having the super power of money and Mako arm candy. For now that’s all I really saw of her. People saying that they like her just cause she’s pretty lol, idk I just haven’t seen much of a personality yet. I can’t believe that the only reason she exists in this show is for subplot romance and subplot probending. She needs to effect the Equalist plot and it’s why I don’t necessarily trust her. I can’t shake the feeling that she can’t be trusted but since we’re only one episode into her introduction I won’t go pointing fingers- but I won’t deny, it is fun to speculate what kind of drama it would cause if she was an equalist/chi-blocker. I mean that scene where Korra announced that she was going to join Tarrloks team, everyone was looking concerned except for Asami. EVEN THE OLD MEN AROUND YOU WEREN’T LOOKING HAPPY. WHY WEREN’T YOU WORRIED ASAMI? EXPLAIN.
Masami… yeahhh… I don’t think the relationship is very interesting. While it did a better job than Mai and Zuko suddenly dating at the beginning of season 3 (JUST—-) and you get to see them meet and get close, I can’t fall for it and maybe it’s because I like the idea of Makorra too much, but its again because I don’t really trust Asami yet, there’s the possibility that it won’t end well. For the sake of character development and how the romance subplot will turn out- or possibly effect the main plot, I’m enthused to see it. It hurts my feels so much, but it feels so good. I want to see conflict, I want to see Korra IN PAIN— much like any character I love.
Borra. The scene was really cute but I can’t see anything but bromance, close friendship and at this rate it’s also what I really want. If Korra really is jealous about Mako as most people are speculating, I just feel like her ending up with Bolin is… kind of a bitch move. To me it says ‘Oh hey I couldn’t get your brother but… you’ll do.’ I guess that depends on how it turns out but for now it’s how I see it.
OK THE MORE PRESSING MATTERS OF THE EPISODE.
Gawww Korra ;A; I didn’t cry for her or anything but she has a lot on her shoulders. I mean she’s still Avatar-in-training, needs to learn Airbending- not to mention get in touch with her spiritual side which she has still ignored completely, fight against the equalists, there’s the probending tournament, that guy you might like seems to be with someone else and pressured to join a task force. And then by the end of it, eventually lets herself break down. I don’t blame people for focusing on the shipping, but her biggest issue for the episode was obviously because she experienced true fear for the first time and couldn’t handle it.
Matter number 2. THE GAANG -SOBS- Even if they were split second shots- just seeing them ;A; -touches them all- I approve of older Aang. That face we didn’t see much of which I’m certain that it was the ‘Yokoh’ or however you spell it— Tarrlok mentioned it in the meeting lmao. 42 years ago Aang wasn’t afraid to deal with him. Who knows what kind of importance it has to the present timeline, Aang might have actually killed someone or it could’ve been Amon’s father… or both.
Episode 5… I need it so much right now.
Also shit my thoughts on shipping were longer than the rest— I DIDN’T WANT THAT. I just have a lot of feelings -cries-
I agree with pretty much all of this. :3
I’m glad I’m not the only one on the fence about Asami.
